Join TREASURE at the First IEA-ES Task 45 Webinar
The TREASURE project is proud to share and support the upcoming launch of the IEA Energy Storage (IEA-ES) Task 45 webinar series, hosted by our partners at PlanEnergi. The first of the webinars, taking place online on 10 June 2025, 09:00–12:00 CET, marks an important step in advancing Large Thermal Energy Storage (LTES) technologies, a core interest shared by both the TREASURE and Task 45 communities.
Task 45 of the IEA Energy Storage Technology Collaboration Programme focuses on establishing a solid knowledge base and operational framework that will enable the widespread adoption of LTES systems. These include Pit Thermal Energy Storage (PTES), Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES), Tank Thermal Energy Storage (TTES), and Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES). The aim is to bridge the seasonal gap between heat generation from renewable sources and the demand for heating, by enabling efficient and large-scale energy storage solutions.
Participants will benefit from expert insights on:
The European regulatory landscape for LTES projects
Public perception and engagement strategies
Innovative financing mechanisms
Lessons learned from Aquifer, Borehole, and Pit storage solutions
The TREASURE project, with its focus on Pit Thermal Energy Storage, shares a strong alignment with the mission of Task 45. By participating in and promoting this event, TREASURE aims to promote collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mutual support within the thermal energy storage community.
The session will be recorded and made available on the Energy Storage TCP YouTube channel, making it accessible for those unable to attend live. Participants are also invited to contribute in advance by submitting their questions for the Q&A sessions via this question form. If you have any further inquiries about the webinar series, please contact Geoffroy Gauthier or Romain Sucche.
The TREASURE consortium encourages all stakeholders interested in the future of thermal energy storage to attend and engage with this valuable initiative.
