TREASURE at the Linz District Heating Forum 2026
On 17–18 March 2026, the Linz District Heating Forum, hosted by the Energieinstitut at Johannes Kepler University Linz, will take place in Linz, Austria. The first edition of the forum will focus on “Heat Highways”, large-scale heat storage, and industrial symbiosis for waste heat–to–district heating projects.
Motivated by several ongoing initiatives, the event creates a dedicated platform for dialogue between applied research and district heating practice. It brings together experts working on the integration of renewable and waste heat sources, large-scale heat storage, and innovative system solutions for decarbonised heating networks.
Objectives of the forum
The Linz District Heating Forum aims to:
Transfer knowledge between applied research and district heating practice
Foster networking among actors from specific district heating fields
Disseminate project results
Connect key stakeholders
The forum will be held in person at the Uni-Center of Johannes Kepler University Linz. The working language of the event is English, and participation is free of charge.
Strong TREASURE presence at the forum
Several TREASURE partners will contribute to the programme with presentations covering different aspects of large-scale thermal energy storage.
TREASURE-related speakers include:
The event will begin with a welcome reception on 16 March 2026 in Linz, followed by two full days of keynote speeches and parallel sessions dedicated to the future of district heating and large-scale thermal energy storage.
With its strong focus on large-scale heat storage and industrial waste heat integration, the forum addresses key topics that are directly aligned with the objectives of the TREASURE project, which aims to accelerate the realisation of sustainable district heating systems across Europe.
