IEA-ES Task 45 Q&A Session on Large-Scale Thermal Energy Storage

The IEA-ES Task 45 group is organising an online expert Q&A session dedicated to Large-Scale Thermal Energy Storage (LTES), taking place on 27 February 2026 from 13:00 to 14:30 (CET).

The session will bring together experts to address questions submitted by stakeholders and practitioners working on large-scale thermal energy storage and district heating.


Topics to be discussed include:

  • Market review and outlook for LTES

  • LTES technologies, including PTES, BTES, TTES, and ATES

  • PTES co-usage and system integration

  • Technology considerations and comparison

  • Ownership models

  • Planning, policy, and economic aspects of LTES projects

Participants are encouraged to submit questions in advance. Questions will be addressed during the session, where time allows, or in future Q&A sessions and webinars.

The session is free of charge and will be held online via Microsoft Teams.
