New TREASURE-Related Publications and Datasets Available

The TREASURE project has updated its collection of TREASURE-related publications and datasets, with several new resources now available for download on both the TREASURE website and Zenodo.

The latest additions cover topics ranging from thermal energy storage performance analysis and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to Modelica-based modelling tools for absorption thermodynamic cycles.

Absolut Modelica library

A new publication and downloadable library titled Absolut Modelica library is now available on the TREASURE website.

The publication presents a Modelica library developed for investigating absorption thermodynamic cycles, with particular attention to the absorption heat exchanger (AHE). The library includes models for different absorption cycles at various levels of detail, most of which have been validated against literature values and laboratory measurements.

Experimental and numerical study of a large-scale water pit thermal energy storage

The publication Experimental and numerical study of a large-scale water pit thermal energy storage: Quantifying the impact of progressive lid insulation degradation is now available on both the TREASURE website and Zenodo.

The study investigates the long-term performance of the Marstal PTES in Denmark, focusing on the degradation of lid insulation over time and its impact on storage efficiency. Using monitoring data and improved simulation models, the research highlights the importance of considering insulation degradation when evaluating PTES performance.

Comprehensive life cycle assessment of a large tank thermal energy storage

Also newly available is the publication Comprehensive life cycle assessment of a large tank thermal energy storage in a district heating system.

The study presents a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of a Tank Thermal Energy Storage (TTES) integrated into a district heating system in Linz, Austria. The publication analyses environmental impacts across construction, operation, and end-of-life phases, highlighting the importance of operational dynamics and multifunctionality in TTES-LCA studies.
