TREASURE at the Euroheat & Power Congress 2026
TREASURE joined more than 530 district heating and cooling professionals in Krakow for the Euroheat & Power Congress 2026, bringing large-scale thermal energy storage into discussions on the future of Europe’s heating systems.
Held on 9–11 June 2026 at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, the Euroheat & Power Congress brought together more than 530 participants from over 300 organisations. Under the theme The Heat Transition in Action, discussions focused on the technologies, business models and system changes needed to advance Europe’s district heating and cooling transition.
The event was organised by Euroheat & Power, a TREASURE partner, while other project partners contributed directly to the programme.
Geoffroy Gauthier from PlanEnergi joined the session “Storing heat where space is tight”, exploring how thermal energy storage can increase flexibility and help district heating systems make more efficient use of local energy resources, particularly in dense urban environments.
Other TREASURE partners were present in Krakow as well. Newheat was represented by Alexandre Bacquet and Sławomir Gibała, who were available throughout the congress to exchange on the decarbonisation of district heating networks. Sławomir also contributed to the Investor Forum, sharing practical experience on what makes district heating projects attractive and bankable.
Bringing together utilities, technology providers, policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders, the congress provided a valuable setting to connect TREASURE’s work on large-scale thermal energy storage and PTES with the wider transformation of European heating and cooling systems.
