Join treasure in the First IEA-ES Task 45 Q&A Session
The TREASURE project is proud to share and support the upcoming first Q&A session of the IEA Energy Storage (IEA-ES) Task 45 series, hosted by our partners at PlanEnergi. This session is the follow-up to the first Task 45 webinar held in June 2025, which explored planning, regulatory, societal, and financial aspects of Large Thermal Energy Storage (LTES) and drew on real-world project examples. Participants gained insights into stakeholder engagement strategies, public perception challenges, the European regulatory landscape, and innovative financing models supporting LTES deployment.
Task 45 of the IEA Energy Storage Technology Collaboration Programme provides the knowledge and framework necessary to accelerate the market uptake of LTES technologies, including Pit (PTES), Borehole (BTES), Tank (TTES), and Aquifer (ATES) Thermal Energy Storage.
During the Q&A session, experts will address questions submitted to the group so far, covering planning, legal, and societal aspects of LTES implementation; technical aspects including feasibility, design, tendering, and monitoring; and practical experiences from real-world projects. Participants are also encouraged to submit new questions in advance, which may be addressed during this session or in future webinars and Q&A events.
The session will take place online on 30 September 2025 from 11:00 to 12:00 CET, and participation is free of charge.
The TREASURE project, with its focus on Pit Thermal Energy Storage, and PlanEnergi share a strong alignment with the mission of Task 45. By promoting and participating in this Q&A session, they aim to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mutual support within the thermal energy storage community.
The recording and presentations from the June webinar are available on the Task 45 website for those who could not attend live.
The TREASURE consortium encourages all stakeholders interested in the future of thermal energy storage to attend and actively engage with this initiative.
