TREASURE Article on BUILD UP Explores the Role of Thermal Energy Storage in EPBD Implementation

An article by Ivana Koláčková, as part of the TREASURE project, has been published on the BUILD UP platform, examining how large-scale thermal energy storage supports the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).

The article focuses on Pit Thermal Energy Storage (PTES) as a key enabler of renewable district heating, highlighting the importance of measurable technical and financial performance and robust system-level data for decision-making.

It identifies a key challenge: despite its potential, large-scale thermal energy storage remains constrained by fragmented data and limited comparability across projects.
